Examining the analytics for our existing client Stoutes Car Rentals, it was quite plain to see the ever increasing number of mobile visitors to the site - now up to 20% of all site traffic. Given the different requirements and capabilities of mobile browsing it became essential to allow the site to deliver a cut-down, yet still fully functional, mobile specific theme.
To this end, we designed and deployed a simpler, quick-to-navigate mobile theme. Through the use of mobile detection the site automatically switches to show the mobile theme to mobile users while allowing them the option to switch back to the full 'desktop' site if wished, and, leaving the desktop visitors unaffected.
The theme integrates fully with the existing booking engine and site content meaning there is no need to update the site in multiple places when changes are required - one site, two themes, one simple solution!
