The Jenna Trust charity required a website for their annual charity auction, Caribbean New Media were approached to see if we could help and we jumped at the chance.
The site, while simple in design had some complex features to deliver -
- Full content management
- Simple, quick-loading, mobile-friendly design
- Online purchase capabilities
- A complete online auction engine allowing multiple online bidding on various products with different increments, starting bids and potentially different finishing times.
Delivered in Drupal 7, the site utilised Ubercart and a custom bidding module to accomplish all the requirements. Much like eBay, the bidding engine allowed the admin to set a starting price for an item along with bid increments. Users an then place their bids, being informed by email when they are outbid.
The event, which took place on the 9th of February, made $250,000!
From organiser Barry Gale - "I have worked with Caribbean New Media on several website projects, most recently for a Charity Dinner which needed an online auction site for its donated items. CNM came through brilliantly, working closely with the charity to build a nimble site that could be easily viewed on cell phones throughout dinner – and yet maintained all of the functionality that we needed. The site alone raised $21,000 on the night of the auction which went straight to underprivileged brain-damaged children… thank you CNM for a brilliant job and for being there when I needed to add auction items at the 11th hour!"
